Weekend Details
What to Bring
Your group will need the following items at Ventact. Please make sure they
have them as we cannot supply them on the weekend.
- Cooking Equipment (with food)
- Packed Lunches for Saturday
- Uniforms
- Wet weather gear
- Swimming togs & Hat
- Runners / Old Shoes-> Towels
- First Aid Kit & Fire Bucket
- Complete Change of Clothes
- Saturday night dancing clothes !
- Tents & Sleeping Bags
This year we are repeating the buddy system, where a unit can twin
with a unit in Cork and have their tents sent down and put up before
they arrive. This only applies to groups outside Munster.
On site facilities Site
There will be an restaurant on site for the weekend offering breakfasts and dinner. In addition a shop will also be operating. Information and First Aid posts will operate throughout the weekend.
Activities
The fun part!!!! The activities this year include Abseiling, Archery,
Canoeing, Caving, Horse Riding, Orienteering, Rock Climbing, Sailing,
Windsurfing, Sub Aqua, Water Skiing & Raft Building. As usual there
will be a disco on saturday night.
Also like last year there will be a whole lot of on site activities on the Sunday
morning so try to stay a little longer and see what goes on

- All group leaders attending and departing should check-in and out with the Ventact South office. This also applies to day visitors to the site and people leaving the site during the day.
- Ventact South and Kilcully Campsite recognise that participants will be thirsty, and recommend refreshment from tea, coffee, hot chocolate, soft drinks and water, as Ventact South is an alcohol free weekend. If any person is found drinking alcohol, under the influence of alcohol or with alcohol in their possession their group will be subject to €150 fine. If any person is found with illegal substances in their possession or under the influence their group will also be subject to €150 fine.
- Neckers must be worn at all times while on site. To avoid the risk of every staff member stopping you, bring a spare.
- Kilcully Campsite encourages Recycling, so try to keep waste to a minimum and ensure that your campsite is clean.
- Kilcully Campsite is part of a voluntary service; so do respect the staff and the campsite.
- Please keep noise levels to a minimum after ‘LIGHTS OUT’ as Kilcully Campsite needs to maintain peaceful relations with its neighbours.
- Please inform Ventact South staff if you or members of your group need to leave Kilcully Campsite during the weekend.
- Unless you are a qualified stuntman / stuntwoman the assault course should be used with great caution.
- Smoking WILL be tolerated, in designated areas.
- Glow sticks are not allowed on site due to health and safety reasons. Any glow sticks seen will be confiscated so please don’t bring them.
- Smiling, dancing, and laughing WILL also be tolerated.
Don’t forget – it is up to each group travelling to arrange their own transport from
Kilcully on Sunday. There will be NO buses organised by the organisers.
A cab from the train station to Kilcully Campsite should cost
around 12 Euro and a mini bus should be around 20 Euro. These prices
are a rough estimate from a taxi company.

From Dublin (N8):
At the Jack Lynch roundabout before the tunnel follow the signs for Cork City & Limerick (N8). At the Silversprings flyover take the North Ring Road (R635) and follow the signs for Limerick. You will join the N20 at (1) on the map.
Keep following the signs for Limerick. At the next cross roads (Shell petrol station on far side of junction) take a right turn towards the Blackpool shopping centre. At the mini roundabout follow signs for “City Centre / All Routes”. At the T-junction take a right turn still following signs for “City Centre / All Routes”. At the next junction (marked IDA Kilbarry Industrial Estate) take a sharp left turn up the hill. This is Dublin Hill. If you keep following this road you will end up at the Black Man Inn at a junction called the “Dublin Pike”.
Once you reach the Black Man Inn take the left fork in the road, a couple of hundred meters down the road keep an eye out for a tiny signpost for a graveyard pointing to a turn to the left (keep an eye out or you will miss it) take this turn and keep on going straight over a bridge and onto the graveyard which will be on the right. If you look across from the graveyard you will see Kilcully Campsite
From Cork City:
Take the N20 over the Opera House Bridge and follow signs for Limerick. Where the North Ring Road (R635) joins the N20 (marked as (1) on the map) follow the directions given above.
From Mallow / Limerick (N20):
Follow the N20 into Cork City until you reach a cross roads just before Blackpool shopping centre with a Shell petrol station on your right. Take a left turn here (as if heading for the shopping centre) At the mini roundabout follow signs for “City Centre / All Routes”. At the T-junction take a right turn still following signs for “City Centre / All Routes”. At the next junction (marked IDA Kilbarry Industrial Estate) take a sharp left turn up the hill. This is Dublin Hill. From here follow directions as given above. .
